Mask Requirements For Skills Tests
As of August 25, 2021, masks are required for all non-commercial and commercial skills tests where an applicant and an examiner are co-located in a vehicle.
Regular, Non-Commercial, and Motorcycle License Skills Testing
Beginning Monday, August 30, 2021, skills tests for regular (Class D) license applicants will be available by appointment only. The SCDMV will not accept walk-ins for regular (Class D) skills tests. Read the full update on SCDMV operations at SCDMV Skills Tests Updates (scdmvonline.com)
Beginning Tuesday, September 7, 2021, the SCDMV will return to administering a modified skills tests for applicants who want a regular (Class D) license. Appointments are available for 21 days in advance. It is the agency's goal to maximize your time so that you do not spend hours waiting at an SCDMV branch.

- Regular driver's license (Class D)
- Non-commercial (Class E and Class F)
- Motorcycle (Class M)
Commercial License Skills Testing
Any commercial driver's license (CDL) holder must have an appointment to complete a road test. No walk-in road tests will be conducted.
For commercial license skills tests, customers must make an appointment at one of the nine SCDMV branches listed below that are able to accommodate this type of test.
- Columbia - Shop Road
- Greenville - Saluda Dam Road
- Myrtle Beach - Commons
- North Augusta
- Rock Hill
Customers will not be able to take knowledge tests after 4 p.m.
