Road Use Fee, formerly known as property taxes filed with the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) on Form PT-441, are now paid at the time you renew your commercial motor vehicle at the SCDMV. You will no longer have to complete a form and the system will calculate the amount due for road use fees.
The SCDMV began collection of road use fees effective January 1, 2019 on intrastate commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 26,001 pounds or more.
The road use fee for commercial motor vehicles 26,001 pounds or more, that have a P-7 apportioned plate (IRP), is not being collected at this time. Road use fees are currently in the testing phase due to the necessary system changes required to implement the collection.
