This transaction enables you to obtain:

  • A duplicate driver's license if yours has been lost or stolen.
  • An updated driver's license to reflect a change of address.  To request a license that reflects a change of address, you must first change your residence address using the Address Change transaction.  After you have changed your address you may complete this transaction.

To complete this transaction:

  • Your license must be eligible for this transaction. If you are currently suspended or have outstanding reinstatement requirements you will not be able to complete this transaction. Most outstanding reinstatement fees may be paid using the Pay Reinstatement Fees transaction.
  • You must be a US citizen.  If you are not a United States citizen, you may obtain a duplicate license at one of the DMV Offices  that process non-United States citizen applications.
  • You must have a valid VISA, MasterCard, or Discover card that will be charged the amount due.

You cannot use this transaction to request a duplicate of a beginner's permit, ID card or any commercial class license (Class A, B, C).  Also, no Provisional, Route Restricted or Temporary Alcohol licenses may be obtained through this transaction.  To obtain a copy of these credentials please visit your local DMV office.

You may receive only one Duplicate Driver's License through DMV's Web site within a 12-month period.  Additional duplicate licenses may be obtained by visiting your local DMV office.  DMV closely monitors the number of duplicate licenses issued to a customer.  The issuance of more than 3 duplicate licenses in any one renewal cycle may result in an investigation by DMV.
