Description

This page is used to schedule skills test appointments for all vehicle classes:  Private Passenger (Class D), Motorcycle (Class M), Commercial (Class A, B and C), and Non-commercial large vehicle (Class E and F) driver licenses.

Skills test appointments are recommended for those who already hold a valid beginner’s permit in a particular class.  For example:  You may not schedule a motorcycle skills test appointment unless you hold a valid motorcycle beginner’s permit. Without an appointment, you might be worked in between scheduled appointments, but there is no guarantee that you can be served on a particular day.

All pre-test requirements for a skills test must be met before testing can begin.  If the requirements are not met, you will be asked to reschedule your skills test.

Note:  Skills tests are subject to cancellation due to severe weather (heavy rain, freezing conditions, snow, etc.).

Private Passenger Vehicle Appointments

IMPORTANT: Private Passenger Vehicle skills tests are scheduled for 30 minutes each. Do not schedule overlapping tests when the same vehicle is being used for each test.

Beginner Permit holders must wait 180 days from the date the permit is issued before they are eligible to take the skills test.

Click here for more information on Private Passenger licensing requirements.

Motorcycle Appointments

IMPORTANT: Motorcycle skills tests are scheduled for 30 minutes each. Do not schedule overlapping tests when the same vehicle is being used for each test.

Motorcycle skills tests are not available at all DMV Field Offices.

Commercial and Non-Commercial Large Vehicle Appointments

IMPORTANT: Trucking company tests are scheduled for 2 ½ hours each. Do not schedule overlapping tests when the same vehicle is being used for each test.

In accordance with FMCSA regulation Part 383.25 (E), original CDL Beginner Permit holders must wait 14 days from the date the permit is issued before they are eligible to take the skills test.

Do not schedule a skills test until you are prepared to successfully pass the pre-trip inspection, basic skills and on-road driving tests for a commercial driver's license.

Commercial and Non-Commercial Large Vehicle skills tests are not available at all DMV Field Offices.
