Air Force Distinguished Service Cross
The Air Force Distinguished Service Cross plate is available to SC residents who have been awarded the Air Force Distinguished Service Cross. Applicants must present official documentation certifying that he or she has been awarded the Air Force Distinguished Service Cross along with a completed Application for Military License Plate (MV-37). The cost for the plate is the regular registration fee. Two plates may be issued per applicant. This plate is available by mail only.

Allen University License Plates are $70.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee. Forty dollars of the special plate fee will be sent to the specified school for scholarships. You may use Form MV-95 to apply for these plates. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
This plate fee is $70 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. To apply for the plate, you must present a current sorority financial card or certificate of membership. A portion of the fees collected will be used for academic scholarships.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity
This plate is available to members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. To apply for the plate, you must present a current membership card, life membership plate, or a letter from the District Director on district letterhead. Proceeds from the plate will be distributed to the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for scholarships. The fee for this plate is $70.00 every two years in addition to the regular registration fees.
Amateur Radio
First time applications must be handled by mail. You must certify on the application that you hold an unrevoked and unexpired amateur radio license of a renewable nature as issued by the Federal Communications Commission. The fee for the plate is $2.00 plus the registration fee
Ancient Free Masons
Ancient Free Masons license plates are $30.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee. Funds are distributed to Scottish Rites Foundation of South Carolina. Funds will be used for speech and language therapy for pre-school children and disaster relief. Applicant must present a current dues card from the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons.
Anderson College
Anderson College License Plates are $70.00 every two years in addition to the regular registration fee. Forty dollars of the special plate fee will be sent to the specified school for scholarships. You may use Form MV-95 to apply for these plates. Antique
To obtain an antique license plate, your current title must be surrendered and the department will issue a new title marked Antique. The fee for a new title is $15.00. To qualify for an antique license plate, the automobile or motorcycle must be at least 25 years old. The vehicle is to be used in club activities, exhibits, tours, parades and similar events, but shall not be used for general transportation. When the vehicle is sold, junked, or otherwise disposed of, you must surrender the antique license plate to the department. The fee for the plate is $10.00.
Appalachian State University
The Appalachian State University plate is sponsored by the Appachalian State University Foundation. Proceeds from the plate will be used to provide scholarships to SC students who attend Appalachian State University. The cost for the plate is $20.00 every two years in addition to the regular registration fees. Army Distinguished Service Medal Plate
The Army Distinguished Service Medal plate is available to SC residents who have been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for the Army. Applicants must present official documentation certifying that he or she has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for the Army along with a completed Application for Military License Plate (MV-37). The cost for the plate is the regular registration fee and two plates may be issued per applicant. This plate is available by mail only.
Auburn University
The Auburn University plate is sponsored by the Auburn Alumni Association. Proceeds from the plate will be used to provide scholarships to SC students who attend Auburn University. The cost for the plate is $70.00 every two years in addition to the regular registration fees. Applicant must submit a completed Application for Special License Plate (MV-95) along with required fees. This plate is available in field offices and through the mail. Beaufort Water Festival
The fee for the Beaufort Water Festival license plate fee is $30.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. The plate is available to the general public and there are no special requirements for acquiring the plate. Boykin Spaniel Foundation
The Boykin Spaniel Foundation license plate is available to the general public and has no special requirements. The fee is $30.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. A portion of the fees collected for the plate will fund genetic research and specialty health clinics for Boykin Spaniels. Click here to purchase this plate.
Breast Cancer Awareness
The fee for the Breast Cancer Awareness license plate is $70.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. The plate is available to the general public and has no special requirements for obtaining the plates. One-half of the proceeds collected for the Breast Cancer Awareness license plate will be used by the SC Department of Health & Environmental Control for screening funding. The other half of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society for quality of life programs for breast cancer patients and caregivers. Click here to purchase this plate.
Bronze Star
The Bronze Star plate is available to SC residents who have been awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Applicants must present a form DD-214 or other official documentation certifying that s/he has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal along with a completed Application for Military License Plate (MV-37). The cost for the plate is the regular registration fee. This plate is available by mail only.
Camp Sertoma
A portion of the fees collected for this plate go to the Camp Sertoma Fund. Although Camp Sertoma is a membership-base organization, the plates are available to all South Carolina residents. Delta Sigma Theta Plate
A portion of the fees collected for the Delta Sigma Theta plate will be used for academic scholarships. To apply for the plate, you must present a current organizational membership card or a certificate of membership. The fee for the plate is $70.00 every two years in addition to the regular registration fee.
Disabled Plates
Disabled plates are available at any full-service DMV Branch Office. Applicants must submit DMV Form RG-007A, Disabled License Plate and Placard Application, and a prescription order completed by a licensed physician. Vehicle owners with disabled license plates must also carry registration certificates that list the names of all eligible disabled persons in their household that operate or may be transported in the vehicle. When customers renew their disabled license plate, they will receive a new license plate and registration certificate. A disabled motorcycle license plate is also available. Businesses are not required to certify with a physician. However, businesses with disabled license plates must also carry registration certificates. Business certificates will not list names of disabled persons, but the certificate will indicate that the vehicle is entitled to park in designated parking spaces. The fee for the license plate is $20.00 every two years. Truck fees are determined by weight of truck. Vehicles that bear a disabled license plate are exempt from the payment of municipal parking meter fees. (SC Code of Laws 56-3-1965) and are permitted to park in designated handicapped parking spaces.
Disabled Veteran
This plate is a free and permanent license plate and is available to individuals who submit proper certification from the Veterans Administration. Applicants must complete DMV Form MV-37 Application for Military License Plate and provide a letter or other documentation from the U.S., Regional or County Veterans Administration certifying that he or she is war time disabled veteran who: 1) is entitled to compensation for the loss of use of one or both legs or arms, or 2) has a permanent impairment of vision in both eyes to a degree as to constitute virtual blindness and is entitled to a special monthly statutory award by reason thereof, or 3) is a SC veteran classified as totally and permanently disabled due to service-connected disabilities as determined from the medical records on file with the U.S. or county Department of Veterans Affairs. Limit two plates per applicant, either two vehicle plates, two motorcycle plates or one of each. The applicant cannot have four plates. The surviving spouse of a certified disabled veteran may obtain or retain the license plate until remarried. This plate allows free parking at municipal parking meters (SC Code of Laws 56-5-2585) but DOES NOT allow parking in designated handicapped (wheelchair) parking spaces. In order to be able to park in a designated handicapped parking space, qualified disabled veterans must have a Disabled Veteran Handicapped plate displaying a wheelchair emblem (See Disabled Veteran Handicapped Plate below for requirements).
Disabled Veteran Handicapped
This plate is a free and permanent license plate and is available to individuals who submit proper certification from the Veterans Administration AND who are ALSO certified as permanently handicapped by their physicians. Applicants must submit a completed DMV Form MV-37 Application for Military License and a letter or other documentation from the U.S., Regional or County Veterans Administration certifying that he or she is a war time disabled veteran who: 1) is entitled to compensation for the loss of use of one or both legs or arms, or 2) has a permanent impairment of vision in both eyes to a degree as to constitute virtual blindness and is entitled to a special monthly statutory award by reason thereof, or 3) is a SC veteran classified as totally and permanently disabled due to service-connected disabilities as determined from the medical records on file with the U.S. or county Department of Veterans Affairs. To obtain this plate, applicants must ALSO be certified permanently handicapped by a licensed physician on DMV form RG-007A Disabled License Plate and Placard Application and provide a prescription order from a licensed physician. Limit two plates per applicant: either two vehicle plates, two motorcycle plates or one of each. The applicant cannot have four plates. The surviving spouse of a certified disabled veteran may obtain or maintain the license plate until remarried. However, the surviving spouse must also be certified as disabled by a licensed physician. This plate allows free parking at municipal parking meters (SC Code of Laws 56-5-2585) AND ALSO allows parking in designated handicapped (wheelchair) parking spaces.
Disabled Veteran Motorcycle
The Disabled Veteran Motorcycle is a free and permanent license plate. Applicants must submit a completed DMV Form MV-37 Application for Military License and a letter or other documentation from the U.S., Regional or County Veterans Administration certifying that he or she is a war time disabled veteran who: 1) is entitled to compensation for the loss of use of one or both legs or arms, or 2) has a permanent impairment of vision in both eyes to a degree as to constitute virtual blindness and is entitled to a special monthly statutory award by reason thereof, or 3) is a SC veteran classified as totally and permanently disabled due to service-connected disabilities as determined from the medical records on file with the U.S. or county Department of Veteran Affairs. Limit two plates per applicant: either two vehicle plates, two motorcycle plates or one of each. The applicant cannot have four plates. There is no registration fee and the plate is available by mail only. This plate DOES NOT allow parking in designated handicapped parking spaces, unless it has a wheelchair decal. Applicants who are also certified permanently handicapped by a licensed physician on DMV form RG-007 Application for Disabled License Plate and Placard with an attached prescription order may receive a wheelchair decal for display on the Disabled Veteran Motorcycle plate that allows the individual to park in designated handicapped parking spaces. Motorcycles that bear a Disabled Veteran license plate (with or without a wheelchair decal) are exempt from the payment of municipal parking meter fees. (SC Code of Laws 56-5-2585)
Distinguished Flying Cross
The Distinguished Flying Cross plate is available to SC residents who have been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Applicants must present official documentation certifying that he or she has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross along with a completed Application for Military License Plate (MV-37). The cost for the plate is $30.00 in addition to the regular registration fee. Only one plate may be issued per applicant. This plate is available by mail only.
Donate Life
The fee for the Donate Life is $30.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. A portion of the fees collected will go toward promoting organ and tissue donation in South Carolina and providing patient assistance to transplant recipients. Click here to purchase this plate.
Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune
The Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune license plate is available to all South Carolina residents. The plate recognizes Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, who was born in Mayesville, and her many contributions to education. The cost for the plate is $30.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee. Proceeds from this plate will support the construction of the Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune museum, restaurant and nature trail and support tourism in Mayesville, Sumter and South Carolina. Driven by the Arts
Driven by the Arts License Plates are $70.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee. Sixty dollars of the fee will go to schools and communities across the state for K-12 arts education programs. You may use Form MV-95 to apply for these plates. Ducks Unlimited
The Ducks Unlimited plate is available to all SC residents. A portion of the fees collected are distributed to the South Carolina Ducks Unlimited State Committee for wetlands conservation projects in South Carolina. Eagle Scouts of America
The Eagle Scouts of America license plate fee is $30.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. The plate is available to SC residents who have been awarded the Eagle Scout Award. Applicants must provide documentation that they received the Eagle Scout Award. A portion of the fees collected will be distributed to the SC Indian Waters Council, Boy Scouts of America and five other Boy Scout Councils.
Earth Echo International
The Earth Echo International license plate fee is $60.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. The plate is available to the general public and has no special requirements. A portion of the fees collected will be used to collect, analyze and archive scientific data regarding the dolphin population in South Carolina waters. Click here to purchase this plate.
Emergency Medical Services
The fee for the Emergency Medical Services license plate is $30.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee. A portion of the fees collected for this plate will be used to improve emergency medical services throughout South Carolina. Click here to purchase this plate.
Emergency Medical Technician
First time applications must be handled by mail. One per applicant. You must hold a valid EMT certificate issued by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Services, Division of Emergency Services. The fee is $30.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee.
Endangered Species
Fees collected in addition to the registration fees will be deposited into a Nongame Wildlife and Natural Areas Fund. The fee for this plate is $30.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee. Click here to purchase this plate.
Erskine College
Erskine College License Plates are $70.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee. Forty dollars of the special plate fee will be sent to the specified school for scholarships. Farm Vehicle
Used exclusively for agricultural, horticultural and dairy operations or livestock and poultry raising. If the farm vehicle has an empty weight of less than 7,500 pounds it may be used for general and domestic purpose but cannot be used for hire. Fee is determined by weight.
Firefighter
First time applications must be handled by mail. A portion of the fees collected for this plate (based on the total number sold) goes to the South Carolina Fire Academy. You must certify that you are an active or retired member of a fire department on the application (Chief Officer of the Fire Unit must sign the application). The fee is $70.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee.
First in Golf Plate
This plate recognizes South Carolina as having been the number one golf destination in the United States. The cost for the plate is $70.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee. Proceeds from this plate are distributed to the SC Junior Golf Association to fund its many programs such as scholarships and free golf instruction for minority and underprivileged children Click here to purchase this plate.
Florida State University
The Florida State University plate is sponsored by the Florida State University Alumni Association. The cost for the plate is $70.00 every two years in addition to the regular registration fee. Proceeds from the plate will be used for scholarships. Applicants must submit a completed Application for Special License Plate (MV-95) along with required fees. A portion of the special plate fee will be used for scholarships to Georgia Tech students from South Carolina. You may use Form MV-95 to apply for these plates. Gold Star Family
The Gold Star Family plate is available to immediate family members (parent, spouse, sibling or child) of fallen service personnel as certified by the Affidavit of Relationship on the application form. To apply for the plate you must present one of the following documents: DD-2064 D.O.D. Certificate of Death (Overseas) or a DD-1300 D.O.D. Report of Casualty. Each qualifying family member may receive, for vehicles registered in their name, a maximum of two plates. There is no fee for this plate. Applicants may obtain a personalized version of the plate that contains letters or numbers or both and the “&” symbol. Text is limited to six characters including spaces and will be granted based on availability.
Gone Fishing
The Saltwater Fishing special license plate is available to all South Carolina residents. A portion of the fees collected will be administered by the Department of Natural Resources to manage and conserve the marine resources of the State. The fee for this plate is $75.00 every two years in addition to the regular vehicle registration fee. Click here to purchase this plate.
Greenville Children's Hospital
The Children's Hospital of Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center license plate is available to all SC residents. The fee is $30.00 every two years in addition to the regular registration fee. H.L. Hunley Plate
The plate commemorates the H.L. Hunley submarine that sunk off the cost of Sullivan's Island in 1864 and was finally recovered in 1995. The fee for the plate is $100 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. Sixty dollars from the sale of each plate is distributed to the Save the Hunley Fund created by the Hunley Commission or another non-profit fund designated by the commission. The funds provide for the continued curation of the Hunley submarine. This plate is available to anyone interested in the restoration and preservation of the submarine. Heritage Classic Foundation
The Heritage Classic Foundation Plate is available for private passenger vehicles. A portion of the fees collected for the plate go to the Heritage Classic Foundation. Homeownership: The American Dream
The Homeownership: The American Dream license plate is available for all private passenger carrying motor vehicles and light pick-ups having an empty weight of 9,000 lbs. or less and a gross vehicle weight of 11,000 lbs. or less. A portion of the fees collected for this plate is administered by the SC Association of Realtors for distribution to Habitat for Humanity International or another non-profit fund that supports the construction of new homes for low income families. The fee for the Hunting Island State Park plate is $50.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. Marine Distinguished Service Medal
The Marine Distinguished Service Medal plate is available to SC residents who have been awarded the Marine Distinguished Service Medal. Applicants must present official documentation certifying that he or she has been awarded the Marine Distinguished Service Medal along with a completed Application for Military License Plate (MV-37). Medal of Honor
Applicants must submit a completed DMV Form MV-37 Application for Military License and present a letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs certifying that he/she is a recipient of the Medal of Honor. The plate is available for the following branches of service: Army, Navy and Air Force. Limit one plate per applicant. This plate is free of charge. Pearl Harbor
The Pearl Harbor plate is available to residents who 1) were a member of the United States Armed Forces on December 7, 1941; 2) were on station on December 7, 1941, during the hours of 7:55 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., Hawaii time at Pearl Harbor, the Island of Oahu, or offshore at a distance not exceeding three miles; and 3) received an honorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces. The fee is a regular registration fee plus an additional fee of fifteen dollars. All applications for Pearl Harbor survivor license plates must be verified by the South Carolina State Chairman of Pearl Harbor Survivors. Limit one plate per applicant.

Personalized Disabled Plate
This plate is available to applicants who meet the requirements for a disabled plate and desire a personalized selection. First time applications must be handled by mail using the Form MV-96A Application for Personalized Disabled Plate. The number of letters or numbers are limited to seven. The only symbol you may use is “&”. Blank spaces are counted as one letter or number. The fee for the plate is $30.00 every two years in addition to the disabled plate fee of $20.00 for passenger vehicles and trucks by the GVW. Vehicles that bear a personalized disabled license plate are exempt from the payment of municipal parking meter fees (SC Code of Laws 56-3-1965) and are permitted to park in designated handicapped parking spaces.

The Prince Hall Masons license plate fee is $30.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. To obtain a Prince Hall Masons plate, customers must be present a current dues card or a letter on lodge letterhead verifying that they are a Master Mason in good standing. A portion of the fees collected will be used for educational, charitable and benevolent events sponsored by the Prince Hall Grand Lodge.
Prince Hall Order of the Eastern Star
The fee for the Prince Hall Order of the Eastern Star license plate is $30 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. The plate is available to members of the Prince Hall Order of the Eastern Star and any Master Mason. Applicants must provide a letter of authorization from the organization at the time of application. Proceeds collected for the license plate will be distributed to Prince Hall Order of the Eastern Star of South Carolina for scholarships. Customers may apply for the new specialty license plate in SCDMV offices across the state or through the mail by submitting Form MV-95, Application for Special License Plates. Eligible applicants will receive their plate through SCDMV’s “on demand” mail process.
Prisoner of War
Applicants require a statement from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs certifying that he/she was a prisoner of war in WW1, WW2, Korean Conflict or Vietnam Conflict. Only two plates may be issued per applicant. This plate is free of charge.
Public Education
Twenty dollars of the fee will be placed in a Public Education: A Great Investment Fund and $34.00 will be distributed to the school designated for the purchase of computers for use in the classrooms. Issued to light trucks no more than 5,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight. The fee for the plate is $54.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee.
Purple Heart
SC Purple Heart plates are available to SC residents who are Purple Heart recipients. Applicants must complete DMV Form MV-37 Application for Military License Plate and must submit a Form DD-214, Purple Heart Citation or a letter from the U.S., Regional or County Veterans Administration certifying that the applicant is a recipient of the Purple Heart. Applicants are limited to two Purple Heart plates at NO COST. A third plate may be obtained for a $30.00 special plate fee plus the regular registration fee. The plate is available by mail only. This plate allows free parking at municipal parking meters (SC Code of Laws 56-5-2585) but DOES NOT allow parking in designated handicapped (wheelchair) parking spaces. To park in a designated handicapped parking space, qualified Purple Heart recipients must have a Purple Heart Disabled plate displaying a wheelchair emblem (See Purple Heart Disabled plate below for requirements).
Purple Heart Disabled Plate
SC Purple Heart Disabled plates are available to SC residents who are Purple Heart recipients and who are ALSO certified as permanently handicapped by their physicians. Applicants must complete DMV Form MV-37 Application for Military License Plate and must submit a Form DD-214, Purple Heart Citation or a letter from the U.S., Regional or County Veterans Administration certifying that he or she is a recipient of the Purple Heart. To obtain this plate, applicants must also be certified permanently handicapped by a licensed physician on DMV form RG-007 Application for Disabled License Plate and Placard with an attached prescription order. There is no registration fee for the plate and is available by mail only. Applicants are limited to two Purple Heart plates at NO COST. A third plate may be purchased for $30.00 plus the regular registration fee. Applicants are allowed a maximum of three plates total in the Purple Heart plate class to include: Purple Heart, Purple Heart Disabled and Purple Heart Motorcycle. The plate is available by mail only. This plate allows free parking at municipal parking meters (SC Code of Laws 56-5-2585) AND ALSO allows parking in designated handicapped (wheelchair) parking spaces.

SC Purple Heart Motorcycle plates are available to SC residents who are Purple Heart recipients. Applicants must complete DMV Form MV-37 Application for Military License Plate and must submit a Form DD-214, Purple Heart Citation or a letter from the U.S., Regional or County Veterans Administration certifying that he or she is a recipient of the Purple Heart. Applicants are limited to two Purple Heart plates at NO COST. A third plate may be purchased for a $30.00 fee plus the regular registration fee. Applicants are allowed a maximum of three plates total in the Purple Heart plate class to include: Purple Heart, Purple Heart Disabled and Purple Heart Motorcycle. The plate is available by mail only. This plate DOES NOT allow parking in designated handicapped parking spaces, unless it has a wheelchair decal. The SC Aviation Hall of Fame plate is available to SC residents who have been inducted into the SC Aviation Hall of Fame. U.S. Armed Forces Retired
Applicant must provide a Form DD-214, Retirement Order, copy of military I.D. reflecting retired status or other verification that applicant is a retired member of the U.S. Armed Forces. Only two plates may be issued per applicant. The fee is $30.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee.
U.S. Military Reserve
The commanding officer must certify on the application that he/she is an active member and is currently serving in the U.S. Military Reserve. The fee for the plate is $30.00 every two years in addition to the registration fee.
United We Stand
The United We Stand plate honors the victims who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The fee for the plate is $25.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. Fees collected for this plate will be distributed to the national 'Rewards For Justice' fund which was created to establish rewards for the capture of terrorists. To be eligible for the US Naval Academy (USNA)license plate, you must be a graduate of USNA. To apply, you must present your DD214 and your USNA diploma or a letter from the USNA Alumni Association indicating that you are a graduate. The license plate fee is $30.00 every two years in addition to the regular registration fee. A portion of the fees collected will be distributed to the US Naval Academy Alumni Association.
US Navy Chief Petty Officer
The US Navy Chief Petty Officer plate is available to active or retired US Navy Chief Petty Officers. Applicants must present a letter of eligibility from Patriots Point Foundation along with a completed Application for Military License Plate (MV-37). The cost for the plate is $60.00 every two years plus the regular registration fee. Proceeds from the sale of this plate will be distributed to Patriots Point Foundation and be used to preserve the heritage of the ships and displays of the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum in Charleston Harbor. This plate is available by mail only.
USC Baseball National Champions
The USC Baseball National Champions plate is sponsored by My Carolina Alumni Association. The Veteran license plate is available to SC residents who have served in the United States Armed Forces active or reserved components. To apply for the plate, you must present your DD-214, indicating that you were honorably discharged, along with a completed Application for Military License Plate (MV-37). This plate is available for both passenger vehicles and motorcycles. Only four plates within the Veteran plate class to include Veteran, Veteran Motorcycle and Veteran Wheelchair may be issued to vehicles registered in the name of the veteran. The cost for this plate is the regular registration fee. No additional fees are required.
Veteran Wheelchair Plate
The Veteran license plate is available to SC residents who have served in the United States Armed Forces active or reserved components and are ALSO certified as permanently handicapped by their physicians. To apply for the plate, you must present your DD-214, indicating that you were honorably discharged, along with a completed Application for Military License Plate (MV-37) AND Disabled Placard and License Plate Application with an attached prescription order. This plate is available for both passenger vehicles and motorcycles. Only four plates within the Veteran plate class to include; Veteran, Veteran Motorcycle and Veteran Wheelchair may be issued to vehicles registered in the name of the veteran. The cost for this plate is $10.00 every two years in addition to the regular registration fee.
Vietnam Veteran
Applicant must present a form DD-214 or documentation certifying that he/she was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal or that he/she served on active duty in Vietnam. The plate is only available to Vietnam War veterans who served on active duty during the period of February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975. The fee is $20.00 every two years plus the registration fee.

The World War II special license plate is available to all World War II veterans and their spouses for private motor vehicles registered in their name. Applicants must provide official documentation of their World War II service. The regular registration fee is the only required fee for this plate. (SC Code of Laws 56-3-8800) Applicants who meet the requirements for the World War II Veteran license plate AND are certified as handicapped with the RG-007A, Application for Disabled License Plate and Placard, and a prescription order may be issued a wheelchair decal to be displayed on the World War II License Plate.
